In a bit of a surprise move late last week, the struggling Portland Trail Blazers signed future Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract. Melo was released after just 10 games last season with Houston and couldn’t find a taker. Not sure Anthony has much left in the tank, but the Blazers needed help in the frontcourt after losing Zach Collins for around four months following shoulder surgery.

Here’s a look at two intriguing early-week matchups around the NBA – including one involving Melo’s Blazers. Check back for Mybookie NBA odds.

Portland Trail Blazers vs New Orleans Pelicans

First meeting of the season between the teams and the Pelicans remain without superstar rookie Zion Williamson. He’s progressing but still not likely to play until early December. This could be Carmelo Anthony’s debut with Portland. The Blazers are hopeful that Anthony can bring an immediate presence to a locker room that needs a jolt. The only cost for the Blazers here is financial, as adding a 15th player will only increase what is already the NBA’s highest luxury-tax bill.

Farke: Canaries need a victory

Farke: Canaries need a victory
07 November 2019 07:09:02 PST
Norwich City manager Daniel Farke accepts that his side need to put a win on the board by defeating fellow Premier League strugglers Watford on Friday evening.
The Canaries are 19th in the table following a run of six games without a win, with the Hornets the only team currently below them in the standings.

And Farke admits that a victory is needed to give everyone associated with the club a lift as they aim to move clear of the relegation zone and avoid fighting to escape an immediate return to the Championship.
He told reporters at his pre-match press conference: “It’s always good to win home games, we really need to be successful tomorrow.
“Even tomorrow we are probably seen at having less than a 50 per cent chance of winning the game, but we need to keep fighting and get as many wins as we can to survive in the Premier League.”
Meanwhile, Farke reiterated his support for striker Teemu Pukki, who has gone six games without finding the net after starting the season with six goals in his first five appearances.
He added: “He is an experienced striker, he knows these times of struggling to score will come, but he knows we all trust him to get those goals flowing again.”
Finland international Pukki is priced at 5/4 to score at any time against Watford, with the Canaries 17/10 to win the game and 11/1 to do so by a 1-0 final scoreline.
